What’s New?

The verdict is in: a compressed elbow fracture (actually it has a much longer Latin name, but this is what I got out of it). He gets to wear that snazzy red cast for three weeks. Yes, it is waterproof. Mama coughed up $36 so her baby could play in the water.

First thing he did when he got home yesterday? Tried to get onto his scooter and ride around. I was having none of that. I made him wait until today to ride.

In other news, I’ve been writing like a woman with a job or something. First, I am thrilled to be the newest contributor to Cool Mom Picks which is exciting, fun and flattering. As some of you know, there is nothing that I like to do more than tell people about Things I Like That I Think You Should Like, Too.

On that note, I also spent the past few days putting together this list of “50 Things To Do with Kids Around Boston Before They Grow Up” for Alpha Mom. It was a great exercise in memory, creativity and counting, although I apparently don’t count so well since I always seemed to find two #9’s or no #28. I pulled it together though, and the column went up today.

Finally, my beloved and I are going to be spending the night alone! in Boston! without kids! Cannot wait. I just hope I can stay awake later than my usual 10:30 bedtime.

  1. I think you almost have to get the water proof one in the summer. Congrats on your new “position” I’ll check it out.

    Wow, Lady, you’ve been busy!
Enjoy your night out, your new job and the waterproof cast! Well worth the $36!

  3. I’d like your life today, please, but hold the cast. 🙂 Enjoy the adult time!

  4. First: he’s adorable. Especially doing the superfriend stance in the cast. ADORABLE.

Second: CONGRATULATIONS! Hope it leads to money (at least enough to pay for that cast!).

Poor kid. At least he can still splash in the water.

And congrats to you, lady! So excited for all your new jobs.

A night out! That’s something to look forward to.

Those boys never stop, do they? My two year old is currently trying to turn everything into a skateboard… his toy trucks, the plant holders, his brother’s roller skate….

He’s looking pretty proud of that cast. $36 well spent.

A night alone? Without kids? Are you pulling my leg?

Sorry about the little’s arm. Good mama for doling out the extra green so he can still play in the water. :o)

  8. Kisses little guy. You are livin’! Your little pal wishes you fast heeling.

  9. That is a snazzy cast and I agree – $36.00 well spent.

Thanks for stopping by! Comments make my life! I love hearing from people but Summer is a busy time for everyone.
I’m sending big hugs for your sweet little one. I love the fact that the cast is waterproof. Keeping it dry would be such a bummer. Big Hugs and congrats to you!!

  13. Oh poor little guy! I have been here all week and look what I miss. I hope he’s doing better.

Off to check out your alphamom column – whoo, Cool Mom Picks won’t be able to afford you soon!

  14. I have never heard of a water proof cast! Something new everyday..

  15. Fairly Odd Mother says

The waterproof cast is the best! The only difference that I can tell between his cast and the one I wore on my arm several years ago is the covering they put on the arm before the wrap the cast. His covering is kind of plasticky with raised ‘bubbles’ on it. The water can get under his arm, onto the skin, but it dries out. He’s been in the bath, the sprinkler and even held his arm under the faucet for a while (he did this on his own!). We’ll try him at swim class next week—-he won’t swim, but maybe, just maybe, he’ll get into the pool and hold onto the side! (two more weeks and it comes off!)

  16. Just wanted to say, “Hi”. I recognize you from NESA. I put your “50 things to do” post in my favorites. Thanks a lot. 🙂

  17. Fairly Odd Mother says

Hi Ingrid! Thanks for stopping by and letting me know! We miss NESA so much and hope to get back in the fall, at least for Open Gym. Take care!
