For almost four years, he slept in our big king-size bed, nestled by my side.
For a few months after that, he shared a room with his sisters.
And, this weekend, he finally got his own bed in his own room.
So, how does a kid who has never slept by himself do after so much co-sleeping?
Just fine, thank you.
How cute! My daughter has that orange kitten too.

Love this! My little co-sleepers are all doing fine too. Well except the newest one that still needs mama all night. But being only 3 months, I'm willing to over look it. LOL

What? Don't you know that if you co-sleep, your children will never learn to sleep on their own? You'll actually have to go to college with them and sleep in their dorm room beds with them! Oh, wait. Homeschooled kids are so poorly socialized they wouldn't be able to handle college anyway. Hrmmph.
Maybe I'm still a little bitter about the comments I used to hear about my parenting choices? 🙂

Brandy—I love that little kitten–his name is Meow and he used to be Super Meow when he wore a little cape for a while.
Summer–yeah, lucky duck, you get her near you for a while longer!
Lise–you mean I can't follow them to college and sleep in their dorm rooms? But, I'm a "can't let them go" homeschooling mom! LOL.
Somehow I think that by the time D gets to college, he'll no longer have his "no girls in my room" rule (sigh). The first night his bed was set up, he told his sisters they couldn't sit on his bed b/c he didn't want it to "smell like girl".
Sabrina—we went through many, many, many nights of H-E-L-L with the girls to get them on their own but he was a piece of cake. Hope you have a smooth transition too!

I didn't do the co-sleep thing but I did the beside my bed thing for 12 years. I already knew she was insecure (military family moving a lot, father being gone a lot) so I just let her be and when she was ready, she was ready. She moved right on into her room just fine. We used to talk about all kinds of stuff while she was in our room, stuff I would never know about her if she hasn't been there. To this day she tells me everything. I love my baby (15) to death and would do it again.

Poor Dude has had enough of the ladies. Congrats on the new room, little D!
I'm so glad we bought a 4-bedroom house, since my two only want to sleep in the same room. At least it's not like last summer when we had all four of us stuffed in a king bed. That's a good argument for central air.

I wish we could say the same thing! But I still stand by our co-sleeping decision! He looks so peaceful.

Yay!
My little one is a month old and he co-sleeps most of the time. He will sleep in his bassinet next to the bed, but prefers sleeping with us (in a king-size bed, next to me since I don't move around while I'm asleep). Glad to see that others are out there co-sleeping… and that there are toddlers who sleep perfectly well by themselves after co-sleeping!

Awwww. So sweet.
My kids have so much stuff in their beds it's sometimes hard to find them. Whenever something is lost I tell them to check their beds first.
Congrats on the new digs!

Aww! Cute! I have to say, I love sleeping beside my oldest son in his big bed – I slept beside him every night almost until my second baby was born, and now I am enjoying sleeping beside my baby!

Love it! Someday we'll be there. Ty and Jack still haven't found their niche outside of the big bed. How great that you posted this!

My two excellent children (okay their names are Bill and Ted) slept with us and we kept getting bigger beds – til theywere ready. I also remember my sister said to me when I complained "I wish my kids still slept with me – now they are too old". I shut up that day never to complain again…and now I say to you all, I wish mine would be small enough to climb into bed with us still. One's 220 and the other 6'1" – but when that first clap of thunder comes in, all four of us are snuggle bunnies again, sigh.
